What exactly is a Moonling?

A Moonling is a real marimo, a velvety freshwater algae puff with a gentle spirit, in a keepsake jar with intention crystals. Think tiny calm companion, part house-plant, part pocket-lake, all vibes.

How do I care for it?

Super simple ritual, 2–3 minutes tops:

Keep out of direct sun (bright, indirect light = happy Moonling).

Change the water every 1–2 weeks.

During the change, give your Moonling a soft squeeze under water and a little roll to keep its cute round shape.

Keep it cool: 15–24°C is the cozy zone.

What water should I use?

Use room-temperature tap water that’s been left out for 24 hours (lets chlorine chill out), or use filtered water. No salt, soap, or aquarium chemicals. If the water ever looks cloudy, pop in a fresh batch and you’re golden.

How long do they live?

They can live up to 100 yeras with basic care! They’re slow growers (about 5–10 mm per year), so your tiny friend stays tiny and adorable for a very long time.

Are Moss Balls invasive?

Not the ones we sell. We source responsibly and follow Australian biosecurity rules, which is why we don’t ship to Tasmania. Please do your part and never release aquarium plants into waterways, keep the magic in the jar.
