A Moss Ball Pet, or Marimo, is a rare type of living green algae that naturally forms into soft, velvety spheres in freshwater lakes. Despite their name, they are not moss at all but gentle, living algae known for their vibrant green color and simple care.
In Japanese culture, they are symbols of love, luck, and longevity. Your Moonling is a moss ball pet paired with crystals and intention, creating a tiny world of calm energy that lives and grows with you.
How do I care for my Moss Ball pet?
Your Moonling loves cool, indirect light and clean, fresh water. Change the water every one to two weeks, swirl the jar gently to keep your Moonling round, and keep it out of direct sunlight or heat.
With proper care, your moss ball pet can live for 100+ years, becoming a calm and constant presence in your home.
How long will my Moss Ball Pet live?
With proper care, moss ball pets can live up to 100 years or longer.
They grow slowly, about 5mm per year, and make peaceful, lifelong companions that thrive on care, light, and love.
Can I take my moss ball pet out of the water?
Yes, you can gently take your moss ball pet out of the water for short periods when cleaning its jar or giving it a squeeze to remove old water. Always handle it with clean hands and return it to cool, fresh water afterward. Your Moonling will enjoy the occasional refresh but prefers to live submerged.
What kind of water should I use for my moss ball pet?
Your Moonling thrives in fresh, clean, cool water. Tap water is perfectly fine if it’s free of chlorine, but if your area uses strong tap additives, let the water sit for 24 hours before changing it. Filtered or bottled water also works beautifully.
What temperature does my moss ball like?
Moss ball pets prefer cooler water between 10°C and 25°C. Keep them out of direct sunlight and away from heaters or windows during warm weather.
Why are moss ball pets considered lucky?
In Japanese folklore, Marimo moss balls symbolize love, luck and perseverance. They’re believed to bring good fortune to those who care for them with patience and kindness, making them a meaningful gift for new beginnings or mindful spaces.

What makes a candle a Manifesting Candle?
A manifesting candle is more than a beautiful scent. Each Wick & Wish candle is infused with real crystals, mica shimmer, and intention to help you focus your energy while setting goals or affirmations.
As the candle burns, the flame represents your inner spark and the crystal absorbs and amplifies your intention. When the wax melts away, a hidden crystal keychain is revealed, carrying your wish forward beyond the flame.
How do I use a manifesting candle?
Before lighting your candle, take a moment to set an intention or repeat an affirmation. Watch the flame as it flickers and imagine your energy aligning with your wish. When you find the hidden crystal keychain at the base, keep it nearby as a symbol of your manifestation.
How long do your candles burn?
Each candle is hand-poured using premium soy wax for a clean, slow burn.
- 100ml Mini Alchemy Jars burn for approximately 20 hours
- 200ml Signature Alchemy Jars burn for approximately 40 hours
For the best results, let your candle burn long enough for the wax to reach the edges of the jar before extinguishing it, ensuring an even melt.
What is the shimmer inside the wax?
The soft sparkle comes from eco-friendly mica powder that swirls beautifully as the candle burns. It represents energy in motion and helps you focus while meditating or visualising your intentions.

Can I send a Moonling or candle as a gift?
Absolutely. Every order is packaged beautifully and makes a thoughtful gift for birthdays, holidays, or meaningful moments. You can also include a note at checkout, and we’ll handwrite it on your behalf.
Are the Moss Moonlings and Wick & Wish candles eco-friendly?
Yes. Our moss ball pets are ethically grown and never harvested from wild environments.
Each candle is hand-poured with paraffin-free soy wax, reusable glass jars, and ethically sourced crystals, made with love and respect for the planet.
How long does shipping take?
All orders are carefully packaged and shipped from Australia within 2 business days.
Delivery times vary depending on your location, but most parcels arrive within 7 to 10 business days.
Each package is wrapped with care and intention, ensuring your treasures arrive safely and beautifully.
Can you ship to Tasmania?
Unfortunately, we’re unable to ship Moss Moonlings to Tasmania. Marimo moss balls are classified as a restricted species there and are not permitted to be imported into the state.
If you live in Tasmania, you can still order our Wick & Wish manifesting candles and other non-living items — they’re safe, shippable, and full of light. ✨
Do you ship internationally?
At this time, we do not offer international shipping. Because our Moss Moonlings are living Marimo moss balls, they cannot be shipped outside of Australia due to biosecurity regulations.
We currently ship to all Australian states and territories, with the exception of Tasmania, and every order is packaged with care to ensure your treasures arrive safely.
If international shipping becomes available in the future, we’ll share the news through our email newsletter and social channels. 🌙
Do you accept returns or refunds?
We want you to love your order, but as our products are handmade and include living elements, we cannot accept returns for change of mind.
If your order arrives damaged or not as described, please contact us within 7 days with photos and your order number, and we’ll make it right.
